Emma Ruth Rundle
One of the bravest things I've witnessed live was at an Emma Ruth Rundle show. She had been performing solo with an electric guitar, microphone and PA at a completely packed venue. Suddenly she unplugged her guitar, walked away from her mic, and launched into Real Big Sky, forcing the audience to be as quiet as possible to hear. To the surprise of everyone, she then walked off stage and into the audience. The crowd pushed their bodies against each other to allow her to carve a path as she calmly walked by performed the song. When her voice and guitar reverberated directly next to us, I stood completely still, stunned. The whole situation felt so raw, intimate, and fragile. I couldn't believe the courage it would take to do that.
Today, Emma announced her new album Engine of Hell will be released on November 5, and shared a beautiful new song and video:
